Hello and thank you for your consideration!
My name is Dana, I am an award winning feature documentary film & commercial Editor. I specialize in documentary story telling for feature films, branded content and commercial spots. I grew up studying fine art under supervision of my grandfather and became extremely interested in telling stories about the human condition through mixed media. In 7th grade, I started making films about my friends around me who I skateboarded with and that turned into a career traveling the world to document the progression of that culture. After a decade of focusing on shooting, I decided that I wanted to focus more on documentary storytelling, so I packed my bags and headed north to San Francisco.
That is what defined my style of filmmaking. The street punks, the hippies, the musicians who set the pace for what counter culture is. The real people who bleed authenticity in ways that one sitting can’t gather. The ones you have to chase and listen to on repeat or overheard in the parking lot when it happened. I’m describing the practice of being present with the people we are documenting in real time to find those moments that can paint who they are with one gesture. Those are the moments I live for as a filmmaker, and those are the textures of life that I love working with.
I consider myself an open collaborator who thrives behind the keys of creative challenge, stressful deadlines and happy accidents. I take pride on making high quality films and becoming great friends with the people who I collaborate with. I feel a responsibility to approach each story that I work on with an honest and open minded perspective. After 10 years chasing foggy stories in Northern California, I have relocated back down to Venice Beach and continue to create my own 16mm films and brand work for clientele here in Los Angeles.
Below are some of my faves, please let me know if you have any questions.
